Houston, TX- Grocers Supply services more than 650 grocery stores, 1200 convenience stores and 200 schools within a 350 mile radius of Houston. To service these customers, it owns and operates several warehouses in and around Houston. Some of these distribution centers work around the clock and equipment downtime is not an option. Miner has been the service partner for Grocers Supply for several years and although we were quick to respond to service calls there were times when we had to wait on parts or replacement items.  

Charles Corrigan, Equipment Sales and Service Specialist for Miner sat down with Grocers Supply and came up with a solution. It was determined that the best way to prevent waiting on parts was to identify and stock all of the most frequently used parts for Grocers Supply. Storage locations were designated at two of their busiest warehouses to hold parts and even complete replacement doors.

Charles ran reports from Miner’s database that identified every part needed for servicing the doors and dock equipment for the past few years. Stocking common parts is nothing new, a proactive vendor that has robust systems and can identify ways to lower costs for its customers is.

Grocers Supply has seen uptime improve, freight costs lowered and second trips eliminated. After all, if your business partner does not add to your bottom line or make your business run smoother, he is not adding value.
