Dock Problems of the Past Meet Solutions for the Future

Before

Dallas, TX – Northstar Ceramics, a tile import and distribution company had big plans for the future but seemed to be tied down to problems from the past. Northstar inhabits a building in an older, urban area of Dallas with limited space in their truck drive area.  The building was constructed when a standard tractor-trailer was 40 feet long. Today’s trailers can be as long as 53 feet. These new larger and longer trailers were having difficulty maneuvering into and out of the dock and on most occasions were pulling over the curb in the neighboring property leaving a muddy, unattractive mess and ruts in the lawn. For a company that provides customers with a product to make their surroundings more beautiful, they were not holding that same standard for their own surroundings.

After

Northstar Ceramics called in Miner to come up with a solution and that is just what we did. Brian Hunter, After Market Sales and Service Specialist, came up with a resolution that would create a dock that was innately more accessible for any size trailer. Miner poured a 60-degree, concrete saw-tooth extension onto their existing dock and installed an edge-of-dock leveler. The saw-tooth dock allowed trucks to back in and out of the driveway at an angle, giving them better maneuverability. This solution gave Northstar a better use of their existing space saving them a significant amount of money while keeping the trailers off of the neighbors grass. The grass is always greener when you call Miner for solutions!

"The Miner Corporation does a great job. They even took the time to demonstrate the equipment after installation so that we were 100% comfortable in using it."
