COLLEGE STATION, TX. (Friday, November 4, 2011) – Miner Central Texas of San Antonio, TX, Miner North Texas of Dallas, TX and Miner Southwest of Phoenix, AZ are among the top 100 companies named to the 2011 Aggie 100 honoring the fastest-growing companies in the world, owned or operated by Texas A&M University former students. Miner Central Texas was recognized as number 4 on the list with a growth rate of 128.75%. Miner North Texas was shortly behind and recognized as number 13 with a growth rate of 73.94%. Miner Southwest, the third Miner Corporation business recognized, came in at number 67 on the list with a growth rate of 21.21%. The Aggie 100 honors graduates from across disciplines and is a program created by the Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship in Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School. Founded by Phil Miner ’80, Miner Central Texas, Miner North Texas and Miner Southwest, all affiliates of The Miner Corporation, competed with hundreds of businesses from across the world which were nominated for the competition.
Phil’s love for the world’s oceans led him to Texas A&M University where he graduated with a degree in Ocean Engineering. After 15 years of working in a family business, he launched The Miner Corporation in 1994; a company focused on providing installation, around the clock repair service, and planned maintenance support for warehouse and retail equipment. Today, the company serves more than 250 of the Fortune 500 throughout North America, and has been recognized at number 210 among the nation’s fastest-growing private companies in America by Inc. magazine. This makes it the sixth year that businesses affiliated with Miner have made the prestigious list of the 100 fastest growing companies owned or led by a former student of Texas A&M University and was the second time that Miner has seen three businesses recognized on the prominent list.
The 100 Aggie-owned or managed companies with the highest compound annual revenue growth from 2008 to 2010 were recognized at a formal luncheon in the Zone Club on the Texas A&M University campus, Friday, November 4, 2011. More than 600 honorees, employees, faculty, administrators, and well-wishers were in attendance. “Since the founding of Texas A&M University, Aggies have been leaving a legacy across all businesses and industries,” said Dr. Richard H. Lester, Executive Director of the Mays Business School’s Center for New Ventures and Entrepreneurship. “Over the last seven years, the Aggie 100 companies have continuously proven that even in tough economic times, solid business ideas and hard work pay off.”
