Melinda Jayne Villegas was a gifted 23 year old Math teacher at East Central High School when she passed away unexpectedly from myocarditis on October 10, 2011. She touched many young lives in a short period of time. Melinda loved teaching and believed that an education could never be taken away.

Miner team members have been blood-pumping for fitness, charity, and team work this summer. On June 2, the first Corporate Cup was awarded to Team Miner by San Antonio Sports and their Dreams for Youth Program. The Corporate Cup included 3,500 participants who represented 50 companies to compete in a one-day event that included tug-of-war, dodge ball, 3v3 basketball, a 3-point shootout, a 5K run and wellness walk, golf chipping, and track relays. Miner had 72 employees compete in these events while being cheered on by family and friends.

(May 17, 2012) Phil Miner, chairman of Miner Holding Co., has been named a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year award 2012 for Central Texas. Miner was selected from a nationwide total of more than 1,700 nominations. This is Miner’s second consecutive year to be a finalist.
Melinda Villegas Endowment Fund raised more than $7200 with your generous donations and The Valero Texas Open Birdies for Charity Event!
The endowment fund will receive 100% of every penny we raise through Birdies for Charity. Golf San Antonio, which manages the Valero Texas Open and Birdies for Charity, pays all costs to run the program. The money raised on behalf of The Melinda Villegas Endowment Fund will be contributed to the scholarship program for qualifying GE²MS students striving to become math and science teachers. Depending on how we do, we can even earn “Bonus Money” provided by Golf San Antonio.
